So, after they came home, they would like to see everything again then might say goodbye to family. That is the reason why some people might see them, the dead people, after the first ceremony.

The Funeral Offering

After people dead, their families are going to prepare a meal for them. Families believe that let them feel full having more opportunities to go on the way to the heaven. But if they feel hungry, they will be seduced to the hill for a delicious meal. Therefore, families prepare a bowl of rice that the shape is like a mountain. Then put on a duck’s egg which is including the shell, and have chopsticks dug straight in the rice. As the mentioned above, that is the first meal for dead people. And now, some people might realize why they were punished by their parents after they dug chopsticks straight in a bowl of rice, because that seems to curse somebody on death.

The Funeral Custom of Taiwan

The funeral, which is a ceremony that people prepare to company a person who passed away to the end of his/her live, is very important thing for people of Taiwan. Few of the funeral customs of Taiwan are people should wear black clothes, and company with the dead people by turns, especially for the night. Some people would chant or recite scriptural for the deceased to guide him/her the way to the heaven. And some would like to ask somebody to cry out loudly pretending living people missing the people who passed away very much, and do not want them to leave. At the period of funeral, people are very serious. If children crack a joke or make fun of something, they would be punished by their parents who think the movements shows disrespect to the dead. On the end of the ceremony, they would ask all people who are in a relationship with their family to have a meal at home. As the mentions above, the funeral custom of Taiwan is quite complex.

Qualities of Being a Good Student

There are certain qualities of being a good student. First of all, students must desire to study something. The desires may give supports to themselves studying hard. For example, when someone really wants to have something, the person will do the best to get it. So, if students have the desires, it also means that they will have much energy to do it. Second, students should practice what they studied for reviewing, so that they could get more understanding form it. It is just like that we may do not get the idea with some things when we meet them at first time, but could catch it after two or three times later. Third, Studying is not always like walk on the flat roads. Sometimes students might get troubles. They will not stop their steps because of those troubles. Instead, they will find solutions to overcome all of them for learn more things. At last thing, it is also the must important thing, students must remind themselves about these three things which are mentioned above, and do it. Good students are not only to understand how to study, but also to accomplish the things they understood. As the quotation said “DOING IS BETTER THAN SAYING”.

Morning People and Night People

Sleep habits of people are different, but we would roughly separate them into Morning people and Night people. In these two parts, morning people usually go to bed early, but night people would like to stay up late. For morning people, they usually take around eight hours for sleep. However, it is very different from the night people who sleep only five or six hours. People who go to bed early usually feel tired at night unlike people who usually stay up late feel having energy and think it is time to do something. On the other hand, morning people are ready to face a day in the morning. In contrast, night people always sleep in the morning if it is possible. So that, it seems when morning would like to go to bed and take a rise, yet night people just feel better to do something at the same time. As all of things mentioned above, these two parts of people have different habits with each other, although they might have same customs sometimes.

How to Drive a Teacher Crazy

There are many ways for driving a teacher crazy. If students who do not care about the scores of themselves or do not care whether they will graduate or not, please follow the methods as below. For the first step, do not obey any rules which a teacher set up. After you did that, teacher might get a little angry about this. Then the teacher will focus on you and find what rules you break. Then you should go on the next step to go opposite way from the rules. For overcoming this situation, the teacher might give you some oral warning, and let your classmates know that what you did is wrong. Further more, the teacher may notice the rules again to all students. At this time, you should ask your best friends who are also your classmates to break some rules in class, such as answer the phone, talk to classmates, listen to the music, and do some strange things when the teacher is teaching in the class. When teacher want to stop the all things you did, please do not forget to say that “you told us that we should learn and do the things what we like”. Then shout out some dirty words to your teacher and leave the class. After these actions, I do believe that your teacher is crazy at this moment.

In reading class, teacher asked us to read the part which is handled by the group, then translated it for classmates. When the translation was not correct, teacher would like to explain what the meaning of the sentence and how to translate it, and we learned how to understand a sentence at the same time. Besides, teacher also asked us to find out one of a reading strategy which is useful for us, then explained that and shared it to the classmates. After we practiced again and again, now we could understand the meaning more correctly of an article. We are not only overcome the fear of standing and reading in the front of the class, but also learned some skills to increase our English reading ability. Now, we could apply these methods on English reading to enhance the meaning of paragraphs and easy to get the main idea of an article.

It is really helpful for us to have a reading class last semester and this semester. In reading class, teacher separates the content of one chapter to many parts, and asks groups to translate it.

At beginning, it was hard for us to understand contends of the textbook because of the grammar problems, the sentence structure understanding, and one word having many kinds of meanings. Therefore, the members of our group had caught the main ideas of a paragraph differently. So that, every one started to compare the translations and discuss why we had different translation on it. After sharing the thought of everyone, the result came out, and the members understood why we translated it differently. So we amended the translation of the paragraph of our group. However, there were still some sentences and structure we did not understand after the discussion.
